How do I publish my website using iWeb?

Method 1

Publish locally and then upload the website to using a FTP client

Using Cyberduck

Tip: You can use hostname.sibername.com in the meantime until your domain request has been approved. The cpanel password will be the same password for FTP , Cpanel , Mysql and other main system need.  It should be confidential.

  1. Prepare your web site in iWeb.
  2. Publish your site “To a Folder“.
  3. Using FTP Client (or any other FTP client), put your site on the Sibername’s server.
  4. FTP connection details (Please refer to your Welcome Letter):
    • Host or server: domainname.com or hostname.Sibername.com
    • Port: 21
    • Directory: /public_html
    • User: Your FTP username
    • Password: Your FTP password

Note: When publishing (Step #2), the folder should be in your computer’s home/sites folder. You will need to create a new folder for your site, such as: MyWebsite.

Open Cyberduck. Go to your “File” menu, and select “Open Connection.”

Next you will be prompted for all of your login information. Press the “Connect” button. Pleaes make sure the Connect Mode is ‘Passive’

You’re done! Your webfiles should have appeared in your Cyberduck window. Now you are free to drag and drop files between Finder and Cyberduck.

To update your site:

  1. In iWeb, make your updates.
  2. Publish your site to its folder.
  3. Open FTP client and “synchronize” your site.

Method 2: Publish the site directly using iWeb ‘09 to hosting server

Step up for iWeb ‘09 FTP connection:

  • Publish to: FTP Server
  • Site name: yourdomain.com
  • Contact email: yourname@yourdomain.com ( Optional)
  • Server: yourdomain.com or hostname.sibername.com
  • Username: Your FTP username
  • Password: Your FTP password
  • Directory: /public_html
  • FTP Protocol: FTP
  • Port: 21
  • Website URL: http://www.yourdomain.com
  • Facebook update: unchecked
  • Click on Publish entire site.
