What is an FTP tool and How do I use it to upload my pages

Date: December 20th, 2011 | Category: FTP

You can find everything on the internet these days, google searches etc but we think these are some of the best places to find an FTP program:
-A general software download site http://download.com
-An FTP client for Windows: http://www.ipswitch.com or http://filezilla.sourceforge.net
-An FTP client for Macintosh: http://www.stairways.com/anarchie/

You might also try a quick search using the keywords “free ftp” will get you some popular programs. SmartFTP is also very popular.

To Upload your website contents :

All files and folders should be uploaded into the public_html directory.

The public_html folder can be accessed either by FTP or via ‘File Manager’ under ‘Site Management’ in cPanel. To access your account via FTP, connect to yourdomain.com or to your hostname (These details can be found within the “New Welcome Email” sent to you at the time of sign up)

Be sure to create an index file for your home page, this can be index.htm, index.html, index.php, etc. Please note our Linux servers are case sensitive so index.htm and Index.htm are two separate files. Index.htm will not be recognized as the default first page. It must be index.htm (.html, .php, etc.) in lowercase.
